Betfred Women’s Super League semi-final fixtures confirmed

Arrangements for this year’s Betfred Women’s Super League semi-finals can be confirmed today following the end of the regular season with St Helens and Leeds Rhinos poised for home ties next Sunday (22 September) – both live on Sky Sports.

Saints finished the regular season in style with a dominant 68-0 win against Barrow Raiders before lifting the League Leaders' Shield at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday evening. Leah Burke and Paige Travis both scored hat-tricks - Burke's treble making her Super League's top try scorer with 25.

Katie Mottershead, Zoe Harris and Tara Jones also crossed the whitewash with Matty Smith’s side now set to face Wigan Warriors at home on Sunday (KO 7.30pm) following their 24-4 loss to Leeds at The Brick Community Stadium.

The fixture will be part of a historic double header of women’s sport as Liverpool FC also begin their new campaign against Leicester City at 2pm with the stadium set to be turned over from Football to Rugby League in just a matter of hours.

Leeds will face York Valkyrie at AMT Headingley (KO 5pm) in a repeat of last year’s Grand Final at the LNER Community Stadium where the Valkyrie triumphed 16-6. Tries from Caitlin Casey, Sophie Robinson, Keara Bennett and Amy Hardcastle against Wigan gave Leeds a far superior points difference to give them home advantage despite York’s 32-6 win against Featherstone Rovers this afternoon.

Both Betfred Women’s Super League semi-finals will take place live on Sky Sports with Leeds Rhinos v York Valkyrie kicking things off at 5pm before coverage turns to St Helens v Wigan Warriors from 7.30pm.

The winners from both fixtures will then battle it out for the Super League crown on Sunday 6 October which will be played at home ground of the finalist ranked highest at the end of the regular season, also live on Sky Sports (KO 4.30pm).
