Magic WKND - What's on?
25 Apr 2025

Betfred Super League’s Magic WKND returns to St. James’ Park, Newcastle, in 2025 – and this year it’s going to be bigger and better. On top of a full round of fixtures taking place on pitch, Magic WKND’s activities start before you even set foot in the stadium with our exclusive Partners’ Fan Zone.
Fan Zone Activities
Fans are encouraged to take advantage of our unique pass-out system to explore the Magic WKND Fan Zone on Strawberry Place, the perfect setting to soak up the weekend’s party atmosphere. You can expect games, facepainters, photo opportunities, plus a range of food and beverage stalls and activities delivered by official partners Glen's Vodka, Northern, ABK and others throughout the weekend.
David Woolridge will be taking centre stage in the fan zone over both days, keeping the party going with music, special guests, live entertainment, and audience games with a Rugby League twist! There will also be a chance for you to purchase exclusive Magic WKND merchandise from the Oxen retail unit.
In 2025 we also have the exciting addition of St. James’ Parks STACK. Newcastle’s Answer to Box Park opened in 2024 and offers a wide range of food and beverage options, plus live music from local artists across the weekend.
IN BOWL ENTERTAINMENT
DJs & Hosts
To get the party started we have BBC Radio 1 Xtra DJ Nick Bright on the decs playing everything from current bangers to old classics you can’t help but sing along to.
Alongside Nick we have our resident rugby league stadium announcer Pete Nuttall not only delivering you the action from the sidelines, but bringing you in to it.
Joining Nick we have Joni to capture exclusive behind the scenes footage of Magic WKND, as well as bringing the noise with sing-along competitions between fan bases, and hosting games giving fans the chance to win prizes.
Big Screen Entertainment
Across the weekend we’re launching new technologies with Vixi Suite so fans can get themselves up on the big screen. But watch out for our roaming cams looking to catch you out with some snapchat filters.
Wanting to wish a loved one a happy birthday, or send best wishes to a Stag or Hen? Get your message up on the big screen by heading to the Rugby League Vixi Suite page here, or scan the QR code around the stadium.
Fancy Dress Competitions

So for your chance to win tickets to the biggest Rugby League events in 2025 make sure you’ve got your costume at the ready – and May the Fourth be with you.
Player of the Match
After each game fans will get the chance to vote for the Betfred Player of the Match, so make sure you’ve downloaded the OurLeague App to have your say.
For Salford Red Devils vs Hull KR on Saturday, and Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves on the Sunday we have special guests from Community Integrated Care’s Learning Disability Super League joining the Sky Sports team for the Player of the Match presentation, putting their journalistic flair on the post-match interviews.
