George Flanagan to remain a Giant

Huddersfield Giants have today announced that George Flanagan Jr has penned a new deal with the club that will see him remain a Giant until the end of the 2027 season.

After a blistering start to the season, with tries against Wigan Warriors and Hull KR, Flanagan has taken to life in the top flight by storm, being rewarded with a new deal.

Perfecting his trade with Hunslet in 2024, he starred in promotion from League One against all the odds and was drafted into the Giants first-team and has continued to impress.

Starting his youth career at Birkenshaw Blue Dogs, Bradford, he came through the pathway system at the Bulls and scored on his debut vs London Broncos, with his father on the field at the same time.

Now at the Giants, his transition has been seamless and has impressed the Rugby League world with his quick thinking, speed and agility at such a young age.

Head Coach Luke Robinson commented on George Flanagan penning a new deal at the club:

"I'm really excited that George has committed his future to us, we see a lot of potential in him, he's showed his promise in a team that's going through a sticky patch, the job he's been doing is great for us, he's got a lot to learn but we think he can go to the next level.

"Every good side is built on the youth and we're looking to the future with George, he understands the club and has a lot of good qualities that can take him to the next level, as shown with his recent performances against some of the best teams in the competition."

George Flanagan also spoke about his journey:

"I'm over the moon to sign here again at the Giants, I've really grown into the club and the town since signing here from Bradford, it's been an easy transition from Academy and Reserves into the first team.

"He's give me the opportunity to play some games (Luke Robinson) which was a surprise when I got the nod to play, I'm really grateful that he's given that faith in me to lead his team around the field.

"I'm happy with my performances but we need to be picking up the wins, I've always dreamed of playing Super League so I'm just taking every opportunity that comes my way."
