Men
Willie Peters on Robins v Warriors clash
9 Apr 2025

‘Amazing April’ continues with a blockbuster ‘table toppers versus champions’ clash on Friday night, live exclusively on Sky Sports.
Hull KR and Wigan Warriors will meet for the first time since their blistering battle in the 2024 Betfred Super League Grand Final, with Bevan French’s solo score the only thing separating the two sides.
They met twice in the league last year, with the Warriors clinching a pulsating 24-20 victory - a victory which would eventually see them beat the Robins to lifting the League Leaders’ Shield.
In their reverse fixture, however, it was Willie Peters’ men who ran riot at Sewell Group Craven Park, emerging as 26-10 winners.
Fast forward this Friday night in 2025…and both sides are in fine form once again - and the two points could prove to be crucial come the end of the season...
It's going to be an explosive one! ?

Hull KR are high-flying – unbeaten in all six of their Super League matches so far and recently booked a place in the Betfred Challenge Cup semi-finals following an emphatic quarter-final victory against their nearest and dearest, Hull FC.
Likewise, the Warriors have won four of their last five league games, with each of those wins having come by margins of 24+ points – and will be freshened up and raring to go on the back their week off.
And March’s Coach of the Month, Peters, is expecting the toughest of tests when he spoke in his presser:
“Wigan might have lost games but that doesn’t mean they’re not in form,” Peters said.
“I think Wigan are the same team that they were last year. They won four trophies last year, so everyone is always going to judge them on a result.
“I look at their side and nothing changes in my mind about how we approach this game and what that team and club are about.”
Peters’ Robins side have once again been playing some remarkable rugby league in 2025 – and will be keen to keep up their winning streak on home soil – in front of yet another sellout crowd.
They have developed Craven Park into a formidable fortress, with many asking the serious question of whether Hull KR can finally end their agonising wait for silverware and wipe out the ‘Since 1985’ jibe once and for all.
They are certainly contenders, that’s for sure, but first they must get past Wigan on Friday night, who are interestingly, the team that ended their unbeaten start in KR’s title-winning 1984/1985 season – also in Round 7 at Craven Park.
Will history repeat itself or can the Robins maintain their winning run?
“Whenever we play them [Wigan], they’re always tough, physical and competitive games,” Peters continued.
“Hopefully this week again, both teams can put on a spectacle that’s entertaining because it’s two good sides going at it.
“If you play Wigan in more games, it means you’re doing okay – because they’re going to be up there at the end of the year.
“Every game is tough and there’s always a reason to say that every game is going to be the biggest game.
“Our focus is looking to the game with a team that won four trophies last year which is a big game in itself.”
With a victory on Friday night, the Robins have an opportunity to go six points ahead of their opponents, but Peters has insisted they maintain a game by game mentality:
“If you think about outcomes before the process, you sometimes get it wrong.
“What I’m looking forward to is seeing how the players come back to Craven Park and play against a team that won everything on offer last year – and how we respond after last week's derby win too.
“This team prides ourselves on being up week after week.
“We’re looking forward to coming back home and getting that support that we get every week when we play at home and performing well for the fans.”
