Women
Trio sign for York Valkyrie
13 Feb 2025

The Betfred Women’s Super League champions, York Valkyrie, have brought in forward, Jazz Rampton, half-back Demi Fisher and hooker, Izzy Bibby (main image).
Fisher joins from Barrow, where she’d been since 2022. Part of their promotion winning squad in 2023, she featured both at loose forward and in the second row, as well as in the halves. Relocation away from Cumbria has led to her moving the Valkyrie.
Fisher said: "I’m really excited to be signing at York and getting out there with the girls.
"Pre-season has been amazing so far and I can’t wait for the season to start.
"Get behind the girls! The more people we get at the home games means the women’s game grows week by week.”
Rampton is a former Jamaican rugby union international, who played rugby league for London Broncos last year in the Women’s Southern Championship.
On signing for the Valkyrie, she said: “They’re a lovely group of girls. They’re amazing and I’m learning loads. I’m excited about the support and to play in front of the fans.”
Bibby can play at both hooker and on the wing, and she’s most recently been involved in Army Rugby League, where she’s played alongside Valkyrie centre, Manuqalo Komaitai. She’s also played for Huddersfield Giants, and was formerly in the England Knights Performance Squad. She says she’s ready for a new challenge.
“I’m excited to step on the pitch with the girls. I’m really looking forward to meeting all the fans,” she said.
Valkyrie Director of Rugby, Lindsay Anfield is delighted to get all three players on board:
“Jazz is a huge signing for us," she said.

"She’s played a lot of 7s and rugby union in the States. She’s got some experience of playing league with the London Broncos, is a talented athlete and has bags of potential in our sport. She’s fitted into the squad really well and is clearly adapting quickly to rugby league.
“I’ve known Demi a long time. We’re both Cumbrians and it’s great to be back coaching her. Demi is a skillful and experienced rugby player, has a strong kicking game and will be able to play a number of positions for us. She’s a real team player and we are in a much better place having her in the squad.

“Izzy has come from Army rugby league. She’s a dynamic and pacey hooker who is a welcome addition to the Valk group. It’s great to finally have Sinead Peach back, and Izzy will really compliment her at 9. She’s come in as a really hard worker with a super positive attitude.”
The 2025 Betfred Women's Super League season will kick off on Friday 16 May.
